  • Liverpool 1 Crystal Palace 1 (May 25 2025)

It wasn’t quite as special as the celebrations after Spurs but it was still one hell of a day. It could be that the football itself dampened the mood a little, certainly for a spell in the middle of the game, but it always going to be hard to top that spontaneous outpouring of joy we had after Spurs. So this was just a little different, but still a day that will live long in the memory.   I’ll get the game out of the way first as there’s really not a great deal to say. We couldn’t have

  • Opposition View- Crystal Palace

After nine months and 38 games. the 2024/5 Premier League season concludes on Sunday. For some clubs they will breathe a giant sigh of relief as it has been a struggle and others will define it as a clear failure. However for teams like Liverpool and Crystal Palace, it has delivered success. Both teams would have goals they wanted to achieve heading into this campaign and while it is true that you are going to have some setbacks along the way, the fact that both clubs walk away from this season

Salah: There was a period where I thought the club would not re-sign me

Mo Salah says there a period of time where he felt he stood next to no chance of getting a new contract from the club due to their policy regarding players once they turned 30.   The contract negations for three of Liverpools biggest stars has been a running saga playing in the background to the club clinching their 20th league title.   While never played out in public, cryptic comments leaking out from various sources heightened tensions within the fanbase and there was inde

Slot: We have full confidence in Conor becoming a very good player at this club

Arne Slot may be farewelling a key member part of the golden era of Liverpool at the end of this season but is comfortable in the knowledge that he has a more than able replacement.   A key element of Liverpool’s success during the Jurgen Klopp era was identifying areas of required improvement within the squad and filling those gaps with quality.   But there will be no need to scour the market for a player with a sizeable fee for the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold with Cono

That was the Week that Was (May 19-24 2025)

Monday May 19:   Brighton 3 L 2. Yeah nothing to say about this. It's covered in the match report and I don't want to waste any more time thinking about games that are going to be forgotten in a few weeks. The manager and players aren't taking them seriously so why should we? That isn't even a criticism, more of an observation really. We've literally been on the beach all week.   Frimpong is all agreed now and is supposedly having a medical today. Kerkez is rumoured to very c

Premier League Round Up (May 17-20 2025)

The two worst sides in the 17 Team Premier League both played their games on Friday to give themselves extra recovery time for when they met in one of the showpiece events of the season. The Premier League should be apologising to UEFA for the clownshow that was served up in Bilbao, but I’ll get to that.   United went close to full strength (whatever that is these days) while Spurs rested everyone who started the final. Which begs the question as to why they were allowed to bring their

    Brighton 3 Liverpool 2 (May 19 2025)

I contemplated just posting a photo of a beach instead of bothering with a report. No-one is arsed anymore, are they? Slot going off to Ibiza, the players spending the week in Dubai, the “Summer of 66” party, fans in the away end not giving a shit about the result and just singing and dancing the night away… nobody is arsed so I guess I shouldn’t be either.   There’s a part of me that’s uneasy about how it’s gone since we clinched the title but life’s too short to be bothered by it. We

That was the Week that Was (May 12-16 2025)

Monday May 12:   The big story everyone is talking about in the national media today is Trent and the booing. I’ve said my piece on what happened in the match report, but in terms of this media feeding frenzy, there are two thoughts I have here. The first, is that this doesn’t happen if the booing doesn’t take place, so the discussion is a result of the actions of some of our fans. We opened the door for this. Well, Trent opened it and we pushed through it.   He deserved to b
