Premier League Round Up (Jan 4-6 2025)
Up until we ruined it late on Sunday, this had been shaping up to be one hell of a weekend. More dropped points for Chelsea and Arsenal and the usual late disappointment for Everton against Bournemouth. Our result put a downer on things but overall it’s still pretty good as the only team to make up ground on us was Forest. We had that travesty at Spurs and it was a pretty low few days. That was a pretty miserable day from start to finish. The weather was so shit the match was under threat and we didn’t find out until midday that it was going ahead. By the time the full time whistle went I wished it hadn’t. It was a wet, cold and frustrating walk back to the car and then I had to sit for an hour in traffic trying to get out of the car park, stewing in my own thoughts. Stating the obvious here but we were very good and West Ham were criminally bad. I don’t think there are many teams that could live with us in this form, but West Ham sure as shit aren’t one of them and that made for the easiest game we’ve had all season. Straightforward enough in the end. We fell behind early again, which is irritating, but it wasn’t because of a slow start as we were actually looking good until they scored out of nowhere. I think that game went pretty much how it should have done. By that I mean when we’re thinking about what should happen against a team that plays the way Spurs do, this is it.
