Liverpool 2 West Ham 1 (Apr 13 2025)
Alls well that ends well, and we’re just two wins away now. What an inexplicably weird performance that was though. It’s so hard to get a handle on this team right now. Last week at Fulham they threw in a stinker of a first half, but then upped their level after the break and could easily have got a draw out of it. This week the first half was mostly excellent but then the second half was terrible and in the end we were very fortunate to get away with it. I don’t know why

Adidas Return to Anfield: The Next Generation of Reds’ Kits Arrives
Liverpool FC will unveil their first Adidas kit in over a decade on July 1, 2025, which is marking an important milestone in the club's legendary past. The current Nike contract expires on June 30th, after five years of partnership that began in 2020. The home uniform is expected to combine modern design elements with Liverpool's rich history. The shade of red will probably be deeper than in previous seasons. Fan-made ideas for the new uniform have gone viral on social m
Van Dijk Optimistic About New Liverpool Deal Progress
Virgil van Dijk has given Liverpool a major lift by confirming that talks over a new contract are finally moving in the right direction. Just last month, the captain was unsure whether he’d still be at Anfield next season. Now, that uncertainty has shifted to hope. Speaking after scoring a last gasp winner in front of the Kop against West Ham, the Dutchman was noticeably more upbeat and said "let's see what happens this week". He had earlier in the week confirmed that there had been
Slot: There are not so many reasons to make this summer a busy one
Arne Slot has implied that Liverpool may not be a big player in the upcoming transfer window pointing to the ability of the squad to compete in almost every game this season. Eyebrows were raised when Liverpool made minimal changes to their squad last summer which included a late transfer for Federico Chiesa and the other investment was Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who remained with Valencia for this season. There have been a number of names linked in the las

That was the Week that Was (Apr 7-11 2025)
Monday Apr 7: So we’ve stolen one of Man City’s data nerds and it’s being reported that the club see it as a “big coup in data circles”. He’s been on gardening leave, as it usually the way in these things, but he’s coming in now and while he’s working for FSG rather than specifically the Reds, his role is meant to be very LFC centric. Premier League Round Up (Apr 5-7 2025)
I was going to start off this week by thanking Everton for the favour they did us this weekend in taking two points off Arsenal. We need all the help we can get at the moment and there’s every chance we’ll win it because of Arsenal dropping points rather than us winning them. We’re actually in better shape than we were before the weekend, despite losing, as Arsenal’s result means we went from needing 13 points to guarantee the title to only needing 11. But I’m not going to thank Ever
Fulham 3 Liverpool 2 (Apr 6 2025)
It’s a good job we have such a big lead because we’re spluttering badly right now. We’ve lost three out of four and we’re playing like shit. You can twist it if you like and only use league results if it makes you feel better, but the games we lost recently aren’t exactly Plymouth in the FA Cup or PSV in a dead rubber are they? The games we’ve lost meant a lot and - irrespective of the competition - we came up short three out of four times. The loss to PSG wasn’t deserved on the nigh
That was the Week that Was (Mar 31 - Apr 3 2025)
Monday Mar 31: Newcastle are reportedly leading the chase for Harvey. If that happened I’d be unspeakably fucking livid. I’ve been thinking about this a fair bit over the break, and the lack of minutes for him this season is a fucking disgrace. I know we’re 12 points clear and cruising to the title, so Slot can say he’s got it right and that’s inarguable. However, alternatively, who’s to say if Harvey had played more than some of those draws wouldn’t have been turned into wins and we

Liverpool 1 Everton 0 (Apr 2 2025)
I actually feel differently about this game today than I did immediately afterwards. While I was relieved and delighted with the three points as I came away from Anfield, I was somewhat underwhelmed by the performance and it didn’t do a great deal to restore a lot of the faith in the team that was lost after that Cup Final shambles. Today though, having slept on it and had a proper think about things, I see it much differently. Much as I’d have loved us to have given them a proper hi
Carabao Cup Final: Liverpool 1 Newcastle United 2 (Mar 16 2025)
It’s worth starting off by saying we’re 12 points clear at the top of the league. So be assured that anything else that follows is said with that fully in mind. I haven’t forgotten it. I’m also aware that the season isn’t defined by what we do in the League Cup, so going overboard about this loss isn’t the smartest thing to do. It’s certainly not what I want to do. Yet I’m not sure I’m going to be able to help it, because as I type this well over 24 hours later, I’m still fucking di
Liverpool 0 PSG 1 (Mar 11 2025)
I’m feeling quite philosophical about this defeat, but that might change depending on PSG do in the rest of the competition. If they go on and win it this is not going to reflect too badly on us at all. We’re all saying right now how we were beaten by a brilliant team, but what if it turns out they aren’t? If they lose to Villa in the next round then this is going to look a whole lot different! I can only say how I’m feeling right now though, and I’m ok with it. Relatively speaking.

Premier League Round Up (Apr 1-3 2025)
No weekend games but there was a full midweek schedule of fixtures so I’ll start with Tuesday night, as Arsenal edged out Fulham at the Emirates thanks to ‘Star Boy’ who returned with a goal. Great news for those long suffering Gooners who have seen their team so decimated by injuries all season. Finally, light at the end of the tunnel. Sadly for them, that light was the oncoming train as Gabriel got steamrollered by it and will miss the rest of the season with a badly torn hamstrin
Premier League Round Up (Mar 15-16 2025)
There was a time not so long ago when a City home game against Brighton was only ever going to end up with three points to the cheats. Those days are no more. They led twice but in the end were lucky to even get a point. The opener came from the spot when Marmoush was fouled and Cave Troll scored from the spot. That’s 29 goals for him this season, which shocked me as it feels like he’s only scored about half a dozen. He must have got almost all of them in the first couple of months o

Monday Mar 24: Week off from the diary last week, so just recapping anything interesting that happened before cracking on with this week. Yeah, I got nothing. Boring week, fuck all happening other than internationals, and not much of interest happened in those. We did get Alisson sent back with a concussion, and we got Gravenberch back early too. He was sent back the day he got there, as Big Red Ron took one look at the poor broken bastard and said “you need a rest kid, fuck off home

"Macca Can" - Steve McMahon interview
You started out with the Blues. Was it always going to be Everton or did you have any trials with Liverpool when you were a kid? It was always going to be Everton, I didn’t get an option. When I was 10 or 11 I was scouted by them and that was the first thing I did, join Everton. All my family were Evertonians - lots of them still are - so it was a natural thing to do and I was very fortunate. Things change quickly in life though. We’ll get to why you left in a second, but I wanted t

"Xabi Alonso's 70 yard screamer against Newcastle (2006/07)" by Jason Harris
When you think of guile and grace as a midfielder, one name that personally comes to mind is Xabi Alonso. To this day, Xabi remains in my top three all-time favourite Liverpool players for many of the qualities that will be discussed in this piece.Signed for a absolute snip at £10.7 million from Real Sociedad at the start of Rafa Benitez's tenure in the summer of 2004, the Spaniard's arrival in England was at the peak of a pre-eminent era for central midfielders in the Premier League. He joined
"El Niño strikes - Fernando Torres’ first goal" by Jason Harris
When an eagle-eyed photographer spied the words 'You’ll Never Walk Alone' on an armband worn by Fernando Torres in an Atletico Madrid game, it appeared destiny that the Spaniard would one day play for the Reds. Liverpool fans were crying out for an iconic figure to lead the line and help take the team to the next level. Their dreams became a reality when Rafa Benitez signed the 23-year-old from his boyhood club for £27 million, which at the time was a club record fee. While Torres wa
'SuperDan' breaks the drought at Old Trafford (2000/01)" by Jason Harris
"One day we will beat Manchester United, I promise you that." Those were the immortal words from Gerard Houllier after a gut-wrenching 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils at Old Trafford in January of 1999. Houllier was never a manager chasing headlines with the way he spoke, but the Frenchman saw something in the team he had taken sole ownership over just a few months before after initially sharing the role with Roy Evans. It had been close to ten years of misery when playing

Kop Tales In Their Own Words: Emlyn's first night as a Red
Emlyn Hughes is one of Liverpool finest ever players and captains, having given 12 years sterling service to the club and captaining the Reds to their first European Cup success in 1977. Emlyn saw and did it all during his time on Merseyside, but of all the weird and wonderful things he experienced as a Liverpool player, perhaps nothing was as surreal and memorable as his first night as a Red. The following is an extract from Emlyn’s book, entitled ‘Emlyn Hughes: Crazy Horse’, and re
Kop Tales In Their Own Words: Smith, Yeats and Mayhem in Majorca
Tommy Smith was known as the Anfield Iron and one of the hardest men to ever pull on the Red shirt. Ron Yeats was an even more fearsome individual, a man mountain who had made a living slaughtering animals in an abattoir before becoming a professional footballer. Yeats struck fear into Liverpool's opponents during the 1960s, while his young apprentice Smith took over the mantle throughout the following decade. The following extract, taken from Smith’s book, Tommy Smith: I Did it the
Kop Tales In Their Own Words: Steve McMahon - Switching Sides
Swapping Everton for Liverpool is always a contentious move likely to upset fans of the Blues, but when you’re a local lad, boyhood fan and a player who became club captain it’s going to sting a lot more. Steve McMahon could have joined Liverpool immediately after walking away from Goodison Park. He was out of contract and there would have been nothing Everton could have done to stop it, but out of respect for his boyhood club McMahon instead chose to make a two year stop at Aston V
