  • Liverpool 4 Accrington Stanley 0 (Jan 11 2025)

I loved the domestic cups for years growing up as a Red - especially the League Cup which felt like ours, given we won it so frequently back then. However, the love affair faded and eventually died in the aftermath of Ferguson telling the FA he'd be opting out of their main event one year because he had bigger fish to fry at the World Club Cup.   What followed was a long period of ambivalence or even annoyance at these silly games that got in the way of Liverpool reclaiming our place a

  • Opposition View- Nottingham Forest

Liverpool’s fixture against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night at the City Ground sees the Reds officially tick over into the second half of the season. The first 19 games have been efficiency at its finest. After the departure of Jurgen Klopp, even the most optimistic Reds fan wouldn’t have predicted that the team would be sitting six points clear of second place with a game in hand and with the old nemesis Man City having a complete crisis of confidence and battling for European qualification

Alisson: This group has to create its own history

Alisson Becker says a new chapter has started to be written  but the past achievements will never be forgotten.   The Brazilian goalkeeper is one of the senior members of the current Liverpool squad and  played a key role in what was a golden era for the club under Jurgen Klopp.   When the German called time on his managerial reign at the Reds, even the most optimistic fan would have expected a period of transition and inconsistent periods under the new man in charge.

That was the Week that Was (Jan 6-11 2025)

Monday Jan 6:   The Trent stuff is rumbling on, which is understandable after that horror show yesterday. He couldn’t cope with the pressure of that, but it’s pressure he has brought on himself so I have little sympathy. That being said, I hope fans don’t turn against him as this is not an irredeemable situation and - unlike many - I don’t think it’s nailed on that he’s leaving. It sure looked like it yesterday, but you won’t convince me that he played that way because he doesn’t give

Premier League Round Up (Jan 4-6 2025)

Up until we ruined it late on Sunday, this had been shaping up to be one hell of a weekend. More dropped points for Chelsea and Arsenal and the usual late disappointment for Everton against Bournemouth. Our result put a downer on things but overall it’s still pretty good as the only team to make up ground on us was Forest.   We had that travesty at Spurs and it was a pretty low few days. And then Everton let Dyche go. I did not see that coming at all. There hadn’t even been any rumours

    Round Ups 5

    Tottenham Hotspur 1 Liverpool 0 (Jan 8 2025)

Fuming. Absolutely fucking fuming. I’m disappointed with our performance, but I’m fucking fuming with the officials. The winning goal is a fucking scandal on a few levels, while the speed with which Paul Tierney waved away a clear foul on Jones in the box late on does not sit right at all. But it’s Paul Tierney, so….   I’ll get to all of that in due course, but I’m not going to use that to gloss over the unacceptable performance we put in. This is a team we put six past a few weeks ago

    Liverpool 2 Manchester United 2 (Jan 5 2025)

That was a pretty miserable day from start to finish. The weather was so shit the match was under threat and we didn’t find out until midday that it was going ahead. By the time the full time whistle went I wished it hadn’t.   It was a wet, cold and frustrating walk back to the car and then I had to sit for an hour in traffic trying to get out of the car park, stewing in my own thoughts.   The performance wasn’t anywhere near good enough, the atmosphere wasn’t anywhere near
