That was the Week that Was (Mar 24-28 2025)
Monday Mar 24: Week off from the diary last week, so just recapping anything interesting that happened before cracking on with this week. Yeah, I got nothing. Boring week, fuck all happening other than internationals, and not much of interest happened in those. We did get Alisson sent back with a concussion, and we got Gravenberch back early too. He was sent back the day he got there, as Big Red Ron took one look at the poor broken bastard and said “you need a rest kid, fuck off home
Premier League Round Up (Mar 15-16 2025)
There was a time not so long ago when a City home game against Brighton was only ever going to end up with three points to the cheats. Those days are no more. They led twice but in the end were lucky to even get a point. The opener came from the spot when Marmoush was fouled and Cave Troll scored from the spot. That’s 29 goals for him this season, which shocked me as it feels like he’s only scored about half a dozen. He must have got almost all of them in the first couple of months o
Carabao Cup Final: Liverpool 1 Newcastle United 2 (Mar 16 2025)
It’s worth starting off by saying we’re 12 points clear at the top of the league. So be assured that anything else that follows is said with that fully in mind. I haven’t forgotten it. I’m also aware that the season isn’t defined by what we do in the League Cup, so going overboard about this loss isn’t the smartest thing to do. It’s certainly not what I want to do. Yet I’m not sure I’m going to be able to help it, because as I type this well over 24 hours later, I’m still fucking di
That was the Week that Was (Mar 10-14 2025)
Monday Mar 10: It’s got to be tough being an Arsenal fan right now. Everywhere you look there are people taking the piss out of them. They might be the most laughed at team in the history of football, it’s absolutely everywhere. It isn’t just their rivals either, it’s everybody. That scene in Airplane when everyone is lining up to slap that hysterical woman across the face, and even a nun is in line to take a shot, that’s basically Arsenal now. I’m seeing all sorts of stuff online ri
Premier League Round Up (Mar 8-10 2025)
With the Reds running away with at the top and the bottom three all being so shit that none of them have a hope in hell of saving themselves, it isn’t exactly all to play for in the Premier League. The extra CL place that England is getting does make things interesting though. 10th placed Fulham are only 5 points off a CL spot, while Arsenal seem to be the only side (apart from us, of course) who are comfortable in their CL qualification. Forest have been up there all season but it’

Liverpool 0 PSG 1 (Mar 11 2025)
I’m feeling quite philosophical about this defeat, but that might change depending on PSG do in the rest of the competition. If they go on and win it this is not going to reflect too badly on us at all. We’re all saying right now how we were beaten by a brilliant team, but what if it turns out they aren’t? If they lose to Villa in the next round then this is going to look a whole lot different! I can only say how I’m feeling right now though, and I’m ok with it. Relatively speaking.
Liverpool 3 Southampton 1 (Mar 8 2025)
Considering I went into this already certain that the title was in the bag, it was surprising how angry and unsettled I was at half time. There’s playing bad, and there’s playing like it’s a fucking Legends Game. The lack of intensity and tempo in our play in that first half was genuinely disgraceful. Tiredness isn’t an excuse because they were able to do it in the second half and that wasn’t just because three changes were made. It was because the intent was there after the break a
PSG 0 Liverpool 1 (Mar 5 2025)
Sometimes you just have to laugh. A largely terrible performance where we could barely string three passes together and where the opposition looked like world beaters, but somehow we came away with a win after only having one shot the entire night. The reason for that is pretty simple though; the best goalkeeper in the world producing the best performance of a stellar career. Maybe the best goalkeeping performance ever? Certainly as far as Liverpool is concerned anyway. Peter Schmeic
Liverpool 2 Newcastle United 0 (Feb 26 2025)
Coming off the back of such a pivotal weekend, this was exactly the kind of performance we needed. I think the players made a statement here. Not an emphatic one that makes everybody go overboard on how amazing this team is, but it was the kind of grown up, dominant, never in doubt kind of performance that showed everybody that this in the bag. To describe is a professional performance doesn’t really do it justice as it was much more entertaining than that, but the scoreline didn’t

Premier League Round Up (Feb 21-27 2025)
Lot to get through in this one as it’s a weekend plus a full round of midweek games to cover. I’ll start at Goodison. Now some of you might have been surprised to see the Blues playing at home given we saw the big emotional farewell to “the old lady” a couple of weeks ago, but that wasn’t actually the last game being played there. I know to the casual observer it must have looked like it, but that’s just because it was the “last game that mattered to Everton”. This week t

That was the Week that Was (Mar 3-7 2025)
Monday Mar 3: The accounts are out and honestly I can’t think of anything more boring. I can’t be arsed reading through any of it as ultimately it means fuck all as these things are just too layered for average joe’s like me to understand. We made a profit in A, but look at the loss in column B, that’s ok though as it’s offset by an ownership loan that causes column C to look healthier and…. Ah just fuck off, don’t care. We know that we’re one of the more sensibly run clubs in the le

"Macca Can" - Steve McMahon interview
You started out with the Blues. Was it always going to be Everton or did you have any trials with Liverpool when you were a kid? It was always going to be Everton, I didn’t get an option. When I was 10 or 11 I was scouted by them and that was the first thing I did, join Everton. All my family were Evertonians - lots of them still are - so it was a natural thing to do and I was very fortunate. Things change quickly in life though. We’ll get to why you left in a second, but I wanted t
